Why does my 2TB microSD show less free space than my SSD despite having fewer files?

I recently got a Lenovo Legion Go and used it to copy most of the files from my external 2TB SSD to a new 2TB microSD card. However, I noticed that the microSD card shows only around 267GB of free space, while the SSD, which has more content, still has over 545GB free. Both storage devices were supposedly the same size, but the microSD seems to be less efficient in how it uses space. I wonder if the format of the microSD (it's exFAT) compared to the SSD (which is in fuseblk) is affecting the available storage. Can anyone explain why this is happening or how to fix it?

Your issue likely comes from how the microSD is formatted. Since it's formatted in exFAT with 1MB sector sizes, even the tiniest file uses at least 1MB of space, leading to wasted storage. If you have lots of small files, that can quickly eat up your available space!

Can I reformat the microSD to use a different format for better space efficiency? If so, which format should I choose?
