Issues with Achieving 4K 240Hz on Linux with RX 9070

I'm currently using an RX 9070 graphics card with a 4K 240Hz monitor. Depending on my mood, I switch between Wayland and KDE, but I'm having trouble getting the output to reach the desired 4K 240Hz. When I use DisplayPort, I'm maxing out at 1440p 240Hz and can't manage 4K at all. Switching to HDMI gives me 4K at only 60Hz or 1440p at 120Hz, and it seems to mess up the HDR profile too. I've already tried two different cables but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get 4K 240Hz output on Linux?

The RX 9070 should support 4K at 240Hz without DSC, thanks to the HDMI 2.1a capabilities. Just make sure your cable is also rated for UHBR20, as that’s essential for 4K 240Hz. If you're struggling with HDMI, you might need to tweak some settings in your Linux setup, as it can get a bit tricky without the right configurations.

If your current cable claims to support 4K 240Hz but isn’t delivering, it might not actually be up to the mark. I recommend checking if there's a better cable option. The link you posted seems a bit vague, so maybe look for cables with more specific UHBR20 or HDMI 2.1 ratings. It's definitely worth considering a switch if you suspect your current one is the problem.
