My PC Won’t Turn On – Any Ideas on What’s Wrong?

So, my PC was in sleep mode and when I came back a few hours later, it wouldn't turn on anymore. Here's what I've experienced:

- It's about 5 years old, and while the specs are still fine for me, I'm hoping to just replace whatever is faulty rather than the whole machine.
- When I try to power it on, there are no lights or sounds; it's completely unresponsive.
- Previously, I dealt with a faulty motherboard and replacing it fixed the issue, but this time, I don't see any lights on the motherboard at all.
- The case has had some quirks too; sometimes the power button doesn't work until I press it multiple times, and it used to make a sound when powering on, but now it doesn't consistently produce that sound anymore.
- I've examined the connections, but a lot of cables are tight and I'm hesitant to pull them out for fear of breaking something.
- I also tend to leave it on overnight often, which might be a factor.

I'm unsure whether it's the motherboard again, the power supply, or something else entirely. What steps should I take to figure out what's failed?

I tested my power supply with a pin test, but there's no response. I plan on saving up to replace it and hope that's all it is!

If there's absolutely nothing happening when you try to turn it on, the power supply is likely the culprit. And hey, have you thought about just trying a different outlet? It might sound silly, but you'd be surprised how often that's the simple fix!

Haha, right? I can’t count the number of times I've been stumped only to realize it was just a tripped outlet breaker or something. Seriously, check that out!

It sounds like you might be looking at a power supply issue. The best way to confirm is to swap out components with a known working part if you have access to them. Just be cautious!

You can easily check your power supply with a paper clip! Just look up the pinout, and if the fan spins after you connect the clip, its not the PSU, and you can move forward from there.
