A friend told me that if I study Information Technology or Computer Science, I would have to learn 5 to 6 new programming languages every year. Is this true? I'm wondering if that would only apply while I'm studying or if it would be expected after I graduate as well. Also, I've heard that many CS and IT graduates struggle finding jobs in Australia. How true is that?

Honestly, 5-6 languages a year? That's a bit much! I've been a software developer for 25 years, and there’s no way I needed to learn that many in any single year. It's more common to focus on a few main ones like C++, Python, and SQL, and maybe dabble in others but nothing overwhelming. So don’t stress too much about the claim!
That’s a relief to hear! Any tips for someone just starting out?
