Hey folks! I'm about to graduate with a computer engineering degree and I'm checking out different tech career paths. With the rise of AI, I'm particularly curious about the future of DevOps. Here are some questions I have:
1. Is DevOps still a strong field to enter in 2025?
2. How has AI impacted job demand and salary in this area?
3. Would you suggest DevOps for new grads like me?
4. Are job opportunities and salaries in DevOps still competitive compared to other tech roles?
I'd really appreciate your insights and personal experiences!

Some see DevOps as being tough for entry-level people because the expectation is often for candidates to have a pretty wide skill set right from the start. However, it's not impossible! If you're proactive and willing to learn on the job, you can definitely make a career out of it. I started in DevOps fresh out of college, and while it was challenging, I learned a ton quickly and moved up the ladder.

Thanks for sharing your experience! It helps to know that there are paths where you can grow quickly as long as you get the right hands-on experience.

It can be a great choice but keep in mind that many companies are looking for candidates with strong foundational skills in either software engineering, networking, or system administration. From what I’ve seen, it helps to already have some experience, even from internships or projects. Plus, being familiar with scripting languages can be a huge advantage in the DevOps field!

That makes sense! Sounds like a mix of skills is key for making it in DevOps.

Yes, DevOps can still be a solid career path in 2025. Although some might argue it’s becoming saturated, the demand for skills in automation and cloud computing continues to grow. Companies are still seeking individuals who can help streamline processes, so there are definitely opportunities out there. If you're eager to learn and can keep up with new tools, you can thrive in this space!

That’s true! It’s all about adaptability. DevOps roles might be evolving, but as long as you’re engaged with new tech, there will be roles for you to step into.

I won’t sugarcoat it: the job market is competitive. A lot of freshers enter the field with basic skills, so standing out can be a challenge. But if you can showcase unique capabilities or experiences, you might have an edge. Exploring supplementary skills in related areas like MLOps or cloud systems could also open more doors for you!

That’s smart advice! Diversifying your skill set could definitely improve your chances.

While DevOps is still a valuable path, you'll want to keep an eye on how AI changes the landscape. Some roles may get absorbed into automated systems, and job descriptions are shifting. So, it’s super important to keep learning and adapting your skills to fit the evolving job market.
