I just got a 2TB Samsung T7 SSD for work because my MacBook Air is constantly showing the "Scratch Disk Full" error. Most of my work involves Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, and I'm currently struggling with this issue as my 256GB internal drive is nearly full. I plan to back up files to OneDrive, but I want to know the best way to format this external drive. Should I use MacOS Extended and set it as a scratch disk? However, I also need it to be accessible on Windows. If I format it to ExFAT for larger file storage, will I still face scratch disk problems later?

ExFAT is the way to go if you want compatibility with both Windows and Mac. However, if you're planning to use it as a scratch disk, consider formatting it as APFS and skip the Windows compatibility. You can always use OneDrive for files that need to be accessed on both systems.
For cross-compatibility, NTFS is often a go-to, but you're limited by your formatting options. You mentioned that you only see Mac OS Extended and ExFAT available. So, it might be best to go with ExFAT to use it on both systems, but keep in mind that Photoshop may not recognize ExFAT as a scratch disk, which could lead to the same issues you're facing now.
