How can I clone my old HDD to a new SSD without using Clonezilla or Macrium Reflect?

I recently built a new PC and I'm looking to replace my old hard drive, which takes forever to boot into Windows 10. I have a Samsung SSD now, but I've run into trouble with cloning my old Seagate boot drive. I tried using Macrium Reflect, but I keep getting error 9, which seems to be a dead end. I don't have access to a flash drive for Clonezilla either. Does anyone have any free solutions for cloning my HDD to the SSD? Just to note, a fresh install of Windows isn't an option for me either right now.

First off, what model of SSD did you end up getting? Knowing that might help. But based on your issue with Macrium Reflect, error 9 might suggest that there are bad sectors on your old HDD. If that's the case, continuing to use it can lead to more data loss, so be careful. As for cloning without a flash drive, the options get tricky. Since you need to clone without a bootable device, you might want to look at software that can clone directly without needing one. However, without a flash drive for booting or a way to fix the potential issues on your old drive, it could be tough. Try to borrow a USB if you can; it might save you some headaches!

If borrowing a USB is possible, that would help a ton! Also, sometimes, freeing up space on the existing drive can allow software to work better, so shuffling files might just be a win-win.

You could check if there’s any alternative software to clone your drives. Some free tools might work better for you. Just be cautious since you're dealing with a potentially failing drive. But keep in mind, most software will still need something like a flash drive or external device to run properly.

Totally agree! Just be sure to back up anything important from that HDD if you can, in case it gets worse.
