How Can I Diagnose a Possible PCIe Issue with My VR Setup?

I've got a Ryzen 2700x CPU, which I believe has 16+4 PCIe lanes. Lately, my VR setup (a Vive headset) has been disconnecting randomly, and I keep hearing the "USB unplugged" sound. Here's a little more about my rig:

- VR Headset: Vive
- CPU: Ryzen 2700x
- Motherboard: ASrock X570M Pro4
- Top 16x slot: RTX 3090
- Top 1X slot: Vive WiGig Card (which is a wireless device for the Vive)
- Empty bottom 16x(8x) slot
- Top M.2: 2TB NVMe
- Bottom M.2: 1TB NVMe

I suspect the PCIe configuration might be causing the problem, especially since I'm using more lanes than the CPU can provide (25 lanes total). I'm considering upgrading my CPU to gain more lanes, possibly to a Ryzen 3700x which is rated at 24+4. Does anyone have suggestions on diagnosing this issue or potential fixes under $150? I'm surprised this isn't a more common issue!

First off, I’d suggest updating your BIOS if you haven’t done so already. Sometimes that helps with PCIe stability. It sounds like there's a chance your motherboard isn’t fully accommodating the load, especially with the Vive WiGig card and the RTX 3090 running together. You might also want to try simplifying your setup — if you can, use a wired connection for the Vive instead of the WiGig to see if that helps. Good luck!

I've already got the latest non-beta BIOS (version 5.60), so that part's covered. I really would need a Pinnacle Ridge CPU to use a beta BIOS for further updates. It's frustrating because I've faced this issue across multiple motherboards.
