I want to upgrade my device that's currently running Windows 11 Home to Windows 11 Pro. I have a valid product key for Pro, and I'd like to find a way to input this key during the clean install process, so it gets recognized automatically. Is there a specific method to do this when I prepare my installation USB? I'll be doing a clean install with an ISO, but I've heard that the installer often defaults to Home. Any tips?

You'll want to do a clean install of Windows 11 Pro. However, just a heads up: Microsoft might not focus too much on your license if it’s not in an enterprise context. Good luck with the installation!
If you're comfortable with some more advanced options, you could also consider using DISM (Deployment Imaging Service and Management Tool) to apply the image you want during installation. It's handy if you want to customize how Windows is installed.
One way to get this done is to use a generic Windows 11 Pro key for the installation first. Just be sure to disconnect your internet when you input the generic key to avoid activation issues. Once you've done the install, you can then enter your actual Pro key to activate it. It's a pretty straightforward workaround!
I recommend making a Ventoy USB installer. You can add an unattended answer file that includes a generic Pro key. After copying your ISO to the Ventoy USB, wipe the target hard disk and install from USB. When prompted to activate, use your genuine Pro key for activation. This is usually the smoothest route!
Yeah, that method is super easy! Plus, if you want, there’s always the quick upgrade route with a generic Pro key first, and then just use your real one afterward. A few ways to get it sorted!
It's funny how that method still works even though it's labeled as deprecated. I’ve used it a bunch of times!
