How can I get ChatGPT to disagree with me more?

I've noticed that ChatGPT often just agrees with whatever I say, even when I present completely opposite views. For instance, if I challenge it with something it just stated, it typically responds with phrases like, "Exactly..." which can be frustrating. I want it to be more open to the possibility that it could have been wrong and admit to mistakes instead of acting like it was right from the start. What changes can I make to its custom instructions to encourage it to have more of a debate or challenge my thoughts?

You might want to try modifying your prompt to encourage ChatGPT to act more like an intellectual sparring partner rather than just agreeing with you. For example, you could say: "Act as an intellectual sparring partner. Challenge my assumptions, critique my reasoning, and provide counterarguments." This way, you encourage it to engage in a deeper dialogue instead of just affirming your statements. It may result in a more balanced conversation. Let me know if it works for you!

That sounds like a solid approach! I can see how guiding it that way would lead to a more stimulating discussion.
