I've got a serious issue with my MacBook – it's completely water-damaged and doesn't power on anymore. Instead of shelling out money for repairs on a laptop that's over 10 years old, I decided to sell it for parts. However, I'm really worried because I have a lot of sensitive data on there, like bank statements and tax forms, that I can't access to delete since I can't log in. Is there a way to wipe the data from my MacBook's memory even if it won't turn on?

Have you thought about using 'Target Disk' mode? If the laptop has that feature and the drive is intact, you might be able to connect it to another Mac and access the files that way. Just keep in mind that it requires the laptop to at least start up a bit.
You might want to check if you can remove the hard drive. If it's an older model, that’s usually possible. Once you’ve got it out, you can connect it to another machine to wipe it clean. What’s the model number of your MacBook?
