My Internet Goes Haywire Every Afternoon—Help!

I'm struggling with a terrible internet connection, especially after noon. I recently got a new HP All-in-One with Windows 11, 32 GB of RAM, and a Ryzen 5500U processor, but everything starts lagging from around 12 PM to 2 PM. Pages take ages to load, games stop working, and I just did a speed test that showed 0.18 Mbps download and 0.12 Mbps upload! I live in the countryside, and while things are fine in the mornings, it gets unbearable during the afternoons. I thought adding more RAM would help, but it didn't change anything. I'm at my wit's end and really need some advice!

It sounds like your friend had no clue about internet speeds. RAM won't help with your internet connectivity—it's about the bandwidth your ISP provides. Given your speeds, you likely have a shared connection issue, especially since the slowdown occurs at the same time every day. Contact your ISP and ask if there are any known issues in your area or if they can upgrade your service. Also, make sure they set up your modem correctly.

Yeah, I don't think he knows much about tech. Our ISP set everything up, so I shouldn't have to worry about that.

It's also worth considering what type of connection you have. Are you on satellite internet? That can be common in rural areas, but it tends to be slower. If it’s not satellite, see if your ISP has the right equipment for you. Sometimes the setup can impact performance. Check how they installed your equipment and if you need a different type.

I don't think it's satellite; the ISP handled the installation.

First things first, you should definitely reach out to your internet service provider. You’re paying for a service, so make sure they’re aware of the issues! They might need to check your connection or offer you a better plan since the speeds you're seeing are really low, especially in the afternoons.

Thank you for the suggestion!

Honestly, your speeds are atrocious for any kind of use. Definitely get in touch with your ISP—they may not realize how poor your connection is. It could be that too many people are using the same lines at that time of day, which leads to slowdowns. Make sure to communicate the times when your Internet barely works, as it's crucial for them to get the full picture.

I will. Thanks for the help!
