How to Stop ChatGPT from Offering Unsolicited Reassurances?

I've been working with ChatGPT on various scenarios and it's been incredibly helpful in identifying new concepts and validating my experiences. However, it tends to give a lot of unsolicited reassurances like, "That's not weakness. That's strength." and similar phrases. While I appreciate the support, I'm not worried about appearing weak or hypersensitive, and I've explicitly asked it to avoid using that framing. It seems like no matter how many times I mention it, it still repeats these phrases. Has anyone found a prompt or method that successfully stops ChatGPT from using this pattern of reassurance? I'm looking for a way to make it understand that I'm just processing my thoughts and not looking for it to 'fix' anything. It's becoming repetitive and quite irritating for me. Any suggestions?

Yeah, I noticed that too! Sometimes, if I frame my questions as just seeking info without context, like 'Can you give me X without reassurance?' it helps a bit. But it’s hit or miss.

Good to know it's not just me! I'll try phrasing my queries differently.

You could also phrase it like, 'Just the facts, no reassurances, please.' This way, it understands you're looking for a more analytical response. It does help curb the repetitiveness!

Try telling it directly, 'I don't need reassurance like "That's not X, it's Y" in your responses. Just focus on answering my questions as straightforward as possible.' This worked for me—ChatGPT seems to respond better when you assertively specify your preferences!

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot.
