What are some good GPU upgrades from an RX 5700 XT?

I've had my RX 5700 XT since 2019, and while it's been a good card, it's starting to struggle with newer games at 1440p. Currently, I get decent performance like 70-90fps in Dota 2, but only around 80fps in Hunt Showdown on low settings, and I'm capped at 60fps for Dead by Daylight. I really want to jump into newer titles like Silent Hill 2, Alan Wake 2, and Resident Evil Requiem. My setup includes a Ryzen 7 3700x, 32GB of RAM, and an MSI B550 Tomahawk (I accidentally referred to it as B650 before, sorry!). Should I keep using the RX 5700 XT until it dies, or is it time to upgrade? I'd love some recommendations, especially if there are options that balance price and performance!

You could also think about going with the RTX 5070 for Nvidia, which is wide-reaching in terms of game compatibility. It's a solid bang for your buck, but again, your CPU might hold you back if you're not upgrading it soon.

I’ve heard good things about the RTX 5070 too, it could be a strong contender!

Isn't the 5070 a bit more expensive though? Worth it if your budget allows!

If you're looking for a solid upgrade, consider the 9070 XT. It's a popular choice and should give you plenty of power for newer games at 1440p. Just keep in mind, without a clear budget, recommendations can vary. How much are you planning to spend?

I think the suggestion for the 9070 XT is spot on! I've seen great results with it.

Have you thought about the 9060 XT as a slightly cheaper alternative? It's also a great card!

The 9060 XT or the 9070 are solid picks. If you can, aim for the 16GB version of the 9060 because it will future-proof you a bit. Just remember that with your current CPU, you're likely to feel some bottlenecking, especially if you upgrade to a more powerful GPU.

GamerGirl22 -

Good point! If you go for the 9060, definitely grab the 16GB model.

Does the bottlenecking mean I should consider a CPU upgrade too?

Honestly, I’d suggest getting a 6800 XT if you can find it under $400. It'll run most modern games smoothly at 1440p, and you might get decent ray tracing performance, which could be great for the newer titles you're interested in. Just look for cards from reliable brands to avoid thermal issues you might hear about.

GameOverKid -

That’s a great recommendation! 6800 XT is a beast for price and performance.

I’ve also had positive experiences with AMD cards, they work really well in my setup.
