New PC Owner Looking for Help with Performance Issues

Hey everyone! I got my brother's PC as a birthday gift last year, and I'm finally ready to tackle some problems I've been having. I'd really appreciate some guidance on how to fix these issues (listed in order of importance). Here are the main things I'm struggling with:

1. **OS Transfer**: I want to move my operating system from the hard drive to my SSD without doing a full reset if that's possible.
2. **Boot Time**: It takes around 10 minutes for my PC to fully boot up, which I suspect is related to the transfer issue mentioned above, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
3. **High RAM Usage**: My RAM usage is off the charts with almost a hundred small background tasks running, even after closing programs in Task Manager. I've run malware scans, and it seems like there are no viruses.
4. **Overall Slowness**: The PC feels generally slow compared to some older machines I've used, so I'm not sure if it's because my drives are nearly full or due to the high RAM usage.

I'm relatively tech-savvy for a newbie, but this has me stumped. Happy to provide more info if needed! Here are my specs:
- **CPU**: Ryzen 7 2700x
- **GPU**: Nvidia RTX 2060 Super
- **Motherboard**: ROG STRIX B-450F
- **RAM**: G.Skill 2x 8Gb DDR4
- **Storage**: 2TB HDD and 1TB Samsung SSD

To really fix everything, I recommend backing up your important files to a flash drive, reformatting both drives, and then installing a fresh copy of Windows on the SSD. It's a hassle, but it will definitely resolve the performance issues you're experiencing.

I’d suggest that instead of just moving the OS, you do a fresh install of Windows on the SSD. This way, you're not just shifting the problems from the HDD to the SSD. If you have a legitimate Windows key, you can download the Windows installer for USB preparation. Provide a clean slate for your setup!

Using your official Windows 10 disc for reinstalling on the SSD should work perfectly fine. Just make sure to back up everything beforehand, so you don't lose any files! Reinstalling can be annoying, but it will clean up all the slowdowns.
