Should I Upgrade My Old PC for Better Gaming Performance?

I've had my PC since 2019, and it's feeling pretty outdated. Here are my specs: an Intel i7 8700, a GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB), 16GB of DDR4 RAM, a 240GB SSD, a 2TB HDD, a 600W power supply, and a Z370 motherboard. I've used it for everything from gaming to streaming, and it has served me well, especially during the World Cup. I'm considering upgrading my graphics card to an RTX 4070 and the power supply to 750W to achieve consistent 180 FPS at 1440p on my 3440x1440 34-inch monitor. Do you think I should also upgrade my CPU and motherboard? I have a budget of $1,000.

Honestly, I'd suggest starting with just the GPU and PSU. Upgrade those first and see how the performance feels before you invest more in a new CPU and motherboard. If you're satisfied with the FPS at 1440p, there's no need to spend more than necessary. You can always upgrade later if needed!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

Absolutely, if you upgrade your GPU to an RTX 4070 and keep the current CPU and motherboard, you might hit a bottleneck. Upgrading both would help maximize the performance of your new GPU, especially with the demands of 1440p gaming. Keep that in mind!

What would be good options that work with that graphics card?
