I'm trying to reinstall Windows to give my system a fresh start. I'm using a USB bootable file from the Microsoft website. However, when I boot from it, the installer either restarts my computer when I hit "next" or throws up an error code "0x80070057". I've tried different USB drives with no luck. Also, I'm curious if it's possible to install Windows on a separate drive. I could try that on my wife's computer if it works.

Have you tried booting into the advanced options? You can do that by selecting troubleshoot and then choosing the option to reset PC or reinstall Windows from there. It might help you bypass the issues you're facing.
How do I access that advanced menu? Is it Shift + F10?
