What Temperature Should My Gaming Laptop Reach During Gameplay?

I've recently bought a gaming laptop and noticed that while playing Helldivers 2, it hits around 72 degrees Celsius after about 30 minutes of gameplay. I'm concerned if this temperature is too high or if it's normal for gaming laptops. What's the typical temperature range I should expect while gaming? Is a temperature below 70 degrees Celsius ideal?

Gaming laptops are built to operate close to their thermal limits, so you're likely to see temperatures in the 80-100°C range during intense gaming sessions. Your laptop reaching 72°C isn't unusual, but it's good to monitor it regularly to ensure it stays within safe limits.

A maximum temperature of around 90°C is generally acceptable depending on your CPU manufacturer. At 72°C, you're within specifications, but if your laptop is around 2-3 years old and hasn’t had thermal paste replaced or any deep cleaning, it might be worth looking into. Regular maintenance can help keep temperatures lower.

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely check on the thermal paste and consider cleaning it out more thoroughly.

You should check the Windows Event Viewer to find the error codes when your laptop blue screens. There are also software options available to help you analyze your blue screen logs, which is a good place to start troubleshooting.

Seventy degrees Celsius is still on the cooler side for a gaming laptop, but I would suggest keeping an eye on other potential issues since you mentioned it overheats and gives blue/orange screens. That might indicate a different problem unrelated to temperature.
