Hey everyone, I've made a rookie mistake and my PC is sitting under an AC unit, which led to some water leaking onto it. Fortunately, I hadn't powered it on yet, so I immediately unplugged everything and tried to dry it out as best as I could. It appears that some water got inside, especially on the processor cooler, but I believe the motherboard is dry. How serious is this situation? How long should I wait before trying to plug it back in? Or would it be smarter to take it to a professional for inspection? I really appreciate any advice!

Honestly, I think you're in for a rough ride. Water and electronics don’t mix well, especially if it got in while it was plugged in. I’d leave it alone for a solid forty days. If you’re lucky, it might work after that, but it's hard to say for sure.
You should definitely avoid turning it on for at least three days! It’s important to let everything dry out completely. Check if water got into any ports or areas where it shouldn't be, that’s key. If it got in the processor cooler, that's a concern, but it sounds like you did a good job of cleaning it up.
Unfortunately, some water did get inside too. I found a bit on the cooler, but the motherboard seems okay. I think most of it ran down to the source, so I'm hoping that's all there is.

Thanks for the heads-up! I'm planning to take it to a professional tomorrow to get it checked out. I still think it wasn't a lot of water, so maybe there's hope.
