I just received a job offer for a work from home position. However, I've been informed that the IT department disables the Wi-Fi feature on the work laptop they provide. They require everyone to connect directly to their home internet via an Ethernet cable. Is there a workaround for this? Additionally, is there any way to mask my location in case they try to ping the connection to confirm that I'm working from home?

You could consider using a "WiFi to LAN" adapter which allows you to connect wirelessly but still have a wired connection. Check out some old discussions about this for more details!
Why not just plug your laptop into your home internet router or modem? It might be worth setting it up as required before searching for loopholes with the internet setup. It's typically best to follow the company's guidelines when starting a new job.
