How Can I Move My Windows OS to a New SSD?

I've ended up with my Windows operating system on a 250GB SSD, which is getting pretty full—I only have 30GB left! I've noticed it's packed with huge temp files from Chrome and game data from Cities Skylines 2. I have two additional 2TB SSDs for other stuff, and I want to transfer my OS to a larger SSD. Is this possible, and if so, what steps should I follow to do it?

You could also use symbolic or hard links to move specific game folders to your other drives. This works great for games like Cities Skylines. Once you've moved them, you free up space on your C drive without needing to reinstall everything.

You can definitely clone your boot drive! I recommend using Macrium Reflect for that. Just install it, shut down your computer, and connect the new SSD. If it's an M.2 SSD, you might need a USB case for it. After booting up with the new drive connected, open Macrium, select your source and destination drives (careful not to mix them up!), and start the cloning process. Once that’s done, you can expand the new drive's partition to utilize the full space. Don't forget to back up any important files just in case before you start this process!

Honestly, I’d suggest just doing a clean install of Windows on a larger drive. It might take a bit longer to set it all up, but it saves you the hassle of a workaround. Plus, your old drive stays untouched, making it easy to copy over anything you want. When you go for the fresh install, unplug other drives so there’s no confusion during setup.
