I'm having a major issue activating Windows 11. I've got a Windows 10/11 Pro license linked to my account, but I also have an OEM license for Windows 11 Home, and neither seems to be working. Microsoft tells me I need to buy a new Windows 11 license, but that can't be right! I tried to switch my OEM license to my Windows 11 Pro license, but there wasn't an option to do that. After using a generic activation key for Windows 11 Pro and running the troubleshooter, it says my version of Windows 11 Pro is different from the one on my old PC. Now I'm stuck and don't know how to revert back to my OEM license. Have I messed everything up? I've transferred Windows licenses before and even had a license key linked to my Microsoft account, but I think it's been removed. Could there be an issue because I purchased Windows 10 Pro a while back?

If the troubleshooter isn't cutting it and Microsoft's support doesn't work, I suggest doing a clean install. Right when you start the setup, enter your retail Windows 11 key. This often resolves activation issues straight away because it sets your Windows from scratch with the key you want to use.
Honestly, it sounds like you're in a bit of a bind. If your supplier is telling you to contact Microsoft, that’s your best bet. They’re the only ones who can really figure out what’s going on with your license and whether it can be transferred. Just remember that you might need to provide them with proof of your original purchase, so have that handy when you call them.

Yeah, I agree. Microsoft usually has access to your license details and can help clear this up. It’s frustrating, but it's the right move.
