Hey everyone! I have an HP Spectre x360 that I think has a dead motherboard, based on the flashing caps lock light I found during my research. It stopped working about two years ago, but I realized I have some important old files on it that I really need for work. Technically, besides the motherboard, I believe the rest of the laptop was fine; it charged without issues and didn't overheat. Is there any way I can recover those files? Since I'm not very experienced with computer repairs, should I try to handle this myself, or should I take it to a tech repair service?

You might want to consider getting a USB adapter for the SSD. Once you remove the drive from your laptop, you can connect it to your current computer, and it'll show up like a portable drive. Check the service document for the right interface you need. If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, a repair shop could take care of it for you.
But how is OP supposed to connect the SSD (NVMe) to their current machine if they haven't removed it from the HP Spectre yet?
