Hey everyone, I accidentally put some old dried cooling paste on the wrong side of my CPU. It's just a little smudge, but I'm wondering if it's something I need to worry about. Should I try to remove it with a fiber cloth or just leave it alone?

Just so you know, it depends on the type of CPU you have. If it's an old Intel socket with a flat surface, it should be okay. But if it had pins like AM4, that could mean more trouble. Glad to hear you're on top of cleaning it!
Make sure to check if the paste is conductive or not. If it's conductive, you might face more serious problems, like frying the CPU or motherboard. But if it's non-conductive and you cleaned it off, you should be fine!
It's best to clean it off as much as you can. A little smudge shouldn't cause major issues, but it's a good idea to make sure it's not there when you install the CPU.
