Help! My Monitors Are Acting Up – Any Ideas?

Hey everyone, I've been having some issues with my monitors. My computer froze while I was using it, and after rebooting, I noticed that only one of my monitors was detected properly. It seems like one of the DisplayPort slots on my GPU is no longer working. I also realized that I can't change the refresh rate in Windows settings anymore; both monitors are stuck at 60fps. I'm at a loss about what could have caused this. It's not the cable since changing the DP slot fixed one monitor, but the other is still acting weird even when connected. I'm beginning to think this could be a driver issue, but I'm not sure what to do next. Just so you know, my monitor is currently using the Microsoft Basic Display Driver. Also, I got a message saying that my 7900xtx driver couldn't be loaded (Code 31). If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it!

First off, definitely try updating your drivers! If you're on Windows, search for "Device Manager," then head to the "Display adapters" section. From there, click on your graphics card and look for any update options. That might fix your issues right away.

Thanks for the tip! I actually posted an image of what I'm seeing in another reply to someone. I’ll check that out.

Updating your graphics driver from the official manufacturer’s website is also a good step. That’s usually the quickest way to handle display issues.

I did update it, but I noticed that it says my displays are using the Microsoft Basic Display Driver. Plus, there's a problem loading the GPU driver (Code 31). Thanks for your help!
