Is Upgrading My CPU Better Than My GPU for Competitive Gaming?

I'm trying to eliminate stuttering and improve my 1% lows for competitive online multiplayer games like Marvel Rivals and Insurgency Sandstorm. Currently, my setup features an RTX 2070 SUPER GPU and an i7-9700K CPU, along with 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and I game at 1440p on a 144Hz monitor. I recently swapped my GPU for an RTX 5070, but I'm still running into stutter issues. I primarily play with the lowest graphics settings and was getting over 90 fps with my previous card. Should I consider sticking with the 2070 SUPER and instead upgrade to an i7-14700K along with DDR5 RAM?

You might want to look into a CPU like the 7600X3D instead of the i7-14700K. Generally, yes, upgrading your CPU would likely help your performance. Just keep an eye on your CPU utilization while gaming to make sure it’s not getting maxed out.
