I'm having a frustrating issue with my gaming PC where I'm experiencing consistent, albeit subtle, frame skips. It's not a major issue but it's definitely noticeable. I really want to figure out what's causing it and how to fix it.
Here's a quick rundown of the steps I've already taken to troubleshoot:
- Updated the BIOS
- Cleared up 120GB on my system drive
- Reinstalled and updated my graphics and Wi-Fi drivers
- Tried disabling and re-enabling the drivers to check for corruption
- Tested both wired and wireless connections
- Played several games, and they all have the same problem
- Monitored CPU and GPU temperatures—they're normal
- Checked CPU and GPU usage—it stays stable during gaming
- Disabled HPET but didn't notice any changes
My setup includes an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X processor and an NVIDIA RTX 3060 graphics card, scoring 90,000 in Geekbench 6. I have 32GB of DDR4 RAM at 3600 MHz, with Windows 11 Home running on an ASUS TUF Gaming X570-PRO Wi-Fi motherboard. My main drive is a WD Black SN770 NVMe with 126GB free, plus a Samsung T7 SSD for extra storage.
I'd greatly appreciate any insights or solutions to this issue!

Are you running your games off the internal SSD or the external one? It could make a difference!
Frame skips often point to a monitor issue rather than the PC itself. Might be worth checking!
That's a good point! Sometimes, the screen seems to freeze for a moment. I assumed it was hardware-related, but I’ll try using my secondary monitor to see if that changes anything.
I've tested with both. For Valorant, it's on my internal SSD, and CS2 is on my external SSD. Both showed the same frame skip issue. My internet is solid too—about 950 Mbps down and 200 Mbps up, with no noticeable ping spikes.
