I recently bought a high-end gaming PC from a friend who barely used it. He claimed it had less than 200 hours of use, but since I got it, I've encountered a lot of problems. No matter what I'm doing—whether it's watching videos or gaming—my monitors go completely black for about 2 seconds, though they remain powered on and my audio cuts out. My keyboard and mouse still light up, but the only way to regain control is to restart the PC. I've tried numerous troubleshooting steps, such as updating the BIOS, tweaking settings in MSI Afterburner, and updating drivers, but nothing seems to work. Given how much I spent on this computer, I'm pretty frustrated, especially since my previous, cheaper PC never had these issues. Here are my specs: - ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16GB GDDR6X OC White - Intel Core i9-14900K with up to 6.0 GHz - CORSAIR DOMINATOR TITANIUM RGB DDR5 RAM 64GB - Asrock Z790 TAICHI CARRARA - 8 Corsair iCUE LINK RGB Fans - 2 WD Black SN850X 2TB SSDs - CORSAIR iCUE LINK H150i LCD 360mm RGB AIO Cooler.

A common issue with random crashes can be the power supply. However, in this case, there are reports of CPUs in some setups overheating and causing failures. Even if you updated the BIOS, it might not help if the CPU has already been damaged. You could try reaching out to Intel for a replacement if that’s the case.
That’s interesting. I asked the previous owner about BIOS updates before buying it, but he hadn’t updated it. I’m currently running a memtest86 and found some errors, so maybe it’s related.
