Could my GPU crashing be due to power issues at home?

Hey everyone! I'm having a tough time with my GPU driver crashing all the time during gaming sessions. After some thinking, I suspect it might be related to power issues in my house rather than a problem with my PSU. I've noticed that when I start my PC, the lights in my room flicker quickly, and when someone in the next bathroom turns on the ventilation fan—which I believe draws a lot of power—the display goes black while the PC stays powered on. It seems like the power draw from these devices might not leave enough power for my GPU, causing it to crash. I'm considering getting a UPS to act as a buffer between my PC and the home's power supply. Does this make sense, or am I missing something? I'm pretty new to this stuff, so any insights would be appreciated!

Your thinking seems pretty spot on! It sounds like you're experiencing brownouts, especially if the lights flicker when your PC starts. A UPS could definitely help stabilize the power and protect your PC from fluctuations. I’d also recommend considering having an electrician take a look, even if just for peace of mind. Those brownouts can potentially damage your hardware over time, so better safe than sorry!

I totally get where you're coming from! It really sounds like your home wiring might be an issue, especially with an old house. A UPS could serve as a temporary fix, as it would give your PC some leeway during those power draws. Once the fan is running, if everything stabilizes, then it may just be those spikes messing with your GPU. Keep an eye on it, and if issues persist, you might consider an electrician down the road.
