I've been struggling with my new PC for about a month now. At first, it was just my browser tabs crashing, but now it's happening way too often on sites like eBay, Udemy, and YouTube. The crashes have gotten so bad that the entire browser crashes too, and I keep seeing an error in the Event Viewer.
I've also noticed that other parts of Windows aren't working properly—commands like sfc/scannow fail, which is frustrating. Eventually, my PC started blue screening with various errors, though the most common one is 'IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.' After fully reinstalling Windows, I faced yet another issue where I couldn't install it on the same drive, so I had to use a new one. Still, the same problems persist: browsers crashing, blue screens, and overall system instability. I'm starting to think my motherboard might be the culprit.
I've tried multiple GPU drivers, swapped out my GPU, tested new RAM sticks in different configurations, and reran all memory tests—all in vain. I've even disabled XMP, underclocked the RAM, and turned off fast boot and secure boot, but nothing's worked.
I also had this bizarre issue where files would delete themselves when dragging them to one of my SATA drives. Honestly, I'm at my wit's end here. Here are my specs:
- MSI PRO Z790P-WIFI MOBO
- AMD RX 7800XT GPU
- 2x 32GB Crucial 5600MHZ RAM
- Intel i9-14900KF
Any advice would be super appreciated!

Given that you’ve swapped out the RAM and GPU and still have issues, it could indeed be your motherboard that's the problem. Sometimes they can cause these weird crashes, especially if the RAM slots or SATA controllers are faulty. Have you run MemTest86 to check for any memory errors? If it fails even with new RAM, that points back to the motherboard or possibly the CPU itself.
It sounds like you're dealing with quite a mess! First off, if you haven't already, try getting some dump files from your crashes. They’re important for analyzing BSODs. If you can access Windows or Safe Mode, check the C:WindowsMinidump folder for any crash logs. Zip them up and upload to a file sharing site so someone can take a look. Also, make sure to change your dump settings to Small Memory Dump, which helps capture multiple logs.
I haven't run MemTest yet, but I’ll definitely do that. Thanks for the suggestion!
