Is it worth upgrading my old PC just for CS2?

Hey everyone! I have an older PC setup with an i7 7700k, GTX 1060 6GB, and 16GB RAM (2400MHz). I'm considering upgrading my system since I'm currently playing CS2 at 120 FPS on low settings and a lower resolution. Do you think I should just upgrade the CPU and GPU, or would it be better to replace the entire build? My budget is around €800.

I’m in the same boat as you! Upgrading the whole build would be a safer bet. The i7 7700k is pretty outdated, and CS2 demands more from the CPU. I'd look for a mid-range used NVIDIA 30 or 40 series GPU to fit your budget and pair it with a Ryzen 7600 or 7500 for decent performance.

Yeah, and with how the market is, you can score some good deals on used parts!

Good point! CS2 is definitely more CPU-intensive than its predecessor, so having a balanced system will help you a lot.

Honestly, with that budget, I’d recommend starting fresh. You could even sell your current setup to help fund the new build, which could give you a nice boost in options.

You’ll likely need to replace the whole setup. CS2 uses the CPU and GPU more than CS:GO did, plus your motherboard won’t support many upgrades from your current CPU. You'd need a new motherboard, CPU, GPU, and RAM. Also, don’t forget about a better cooling case and a new PSU; it’s recommended not to reuse PSUs older than 10 years. A combo like the 9600X and 9060 XT could work, but it might go over your budget.
