Is My Fan Curve Setup Good for My New GPU?

Hey everyone! I recently upgraded to an MSI RTX 3060 Ti after battling with RMA companies, and I'm trying to set a solid fan curve that keeps the GPU fans off during low load. Before I finalize it, I want to make sure it's effective enough to keep my GPU cool and prevent any overheating issues.

Here's a quick rundown of my specs:

- Case: MSI MAG VAMPIRIC 011C AMD RYZEN EDITION
- Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING B550 PLUS WIFI-II
- CPU: AMD RYZEN 5 4500
- CPU Fan: DEEPCOOL DIGITAL AK400
- RAM: CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX 4x8GB 3600MHz
- GPU: MSI RTX 3060 Ti GAMING X TRIO
- Storage: SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS (1x1TB, 1x256GB)
- PSU: MSI MAG A750GL PCIE5

I appreciate any advice! Thanks!

Make sure you have decent airflow in your case; that's crucial. I have a similar build, and my GPU fans hardly spin unless it's really hot. I think my card kicks in at around 49°C, but it rarely gets there. And for testing, don’t hesitate to run some gameplay while monitoring temperatures—it's the best way to check if your fan curve is working.

You really just have to test it out! The efficiency of the fan curve will depend on factors like room temperature and case airflow. Set your fan curve and run some benchmarks while keeping an eye on the temperatures. If everything stays cool and you're okay with the noise level, then you're good to go!

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely give it a try and see how it goes.

If you're happy with the thermal results and sound levels, then it’s probably working well for you. Just make sure there’s no throttling happening during gaming sessions, and that should keep you in the safe zone!

Honestly, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all ‘good’ fan curve. It’s all about your comfort with noise versus cooling performance. Every setup is unique, so adjust it to what you prefer, and don’t forget to keep an eye on temps as you game.

You might want to check if this is the right forum for such questions. If not, I can help you find a better one. But as for your fan curve, as long as you’re okay with the noise and the temperatures stay within a safe range, you'll be just fine! Most modern GPUs have built-in modes that prevent fans from spinning until they reach certain temps, usually around 50°C. Just monitor it and adjust as necessary.
