I installed a Thermalright Aqua Elite 240 V3 in my computer. The pump starts for about half a second, shuts off, and then repeatedly cycles back on at roughly 1000–2000 RPM with inconsistent timing. The CPU quickly overheats, so I've been powering the system down. The pump is connected to the PUMP_SYS1 header on an MSI motherboard. What should I check or change?

Go into the MSI motherboard’s hardware-monitoring or fan-control menu and set PUMP_SYS1 to run at a fixed 100% or full speed instead of following the normal temperature-based fan curve. Also verify whether the header is configured for PWM or DC mode to match the pump, and make sure the cooler’s SATA power connection is firmly attached if the model uses one. Don’t keep running the PC while the pump is cycling, since the CPU can overheat very quickly.
It’s connected to PUMP_SYS1, but I think that header is still using the default curve. I’ll set it to full speed and check the control mode.
