Are Outlook for Android Favorite People notifications currently broken?

I use Outlook for Android and only want push notifications for important messages from my boss, my team, and network or server monitoring accounts. The Favorite People notification setting worked previously, but over the last few days it stopped notifying me for messages from those contacts. The options are still visible, and the built-in notification test reports success, but actual emails from favorite senders do not trigger alerts. I'm using a Pixel 7 and have already opened a support ticket. Has anyone found a fix or confirmed that this is an app issue?

The Favorite People option is still present in current versions, and the notification test can report success even when the actual filtering is broken. The test seems to verify only that the app can technically send a notification, not that favorite-sender rules are working correctly.

That matches what I’m seeing. The setting and test are both available, but messages from favorite contacts still don’t produce notifications.

This appears to be affecting multiple users rather than just one phone. Disabling and re-enabling notifications, testing on another device, and even trying a reset phone produced the same behavior. It’s likely a current Outlook app or service-side bug, so a fix may require an update from Microsoft.

It’s worth checking Android’s notification permissions, Do Not Disturb rules, and whether Outlook is allowed to send priority notifications. Also confirm that the sender address used for testing is marked as a favorite. Those checks didn’t appear to resolve this issue for everyone, though.
