I bought a CyberPowerPC last year and want to start upgrading it. The current system has a Ryzen 5 5500, a Radeon RX 6500 XT, an MSI B550M-VC WiFi motherboard, and 32GB of DDR4 Ripjaws memory. I'm considering upgrading to a Radeon RX 9070 XT and a Ryzen 7 5800X3D. I also plan to replace the power supply before installing the new graphics card. Does this upgrade path make sense, and is there anything I should check first?

That’s a sensible upgrade path, but I’d prioritize the graphics card first. The Ryzen 5 5500 may limit performance in some games, but the jump from an RX 6500 XT to an RX 9070 XT should be much more noticeable. You can then see whether the CPU is holding you back before buying the processor upgrade.
Definitely replace the power supply before installing the new GPU. Since the computer is prebuilt and the current unit has no clear label, don’t assume the advertised wattage tells the whole story. Choose a reputable, modern unit with enough capacity and the correct power connectors for the RX 9070 XT. Also check that the card will physically fit in the case and that the case has adequate airflow.
Make sure the motherboard BIOS supports the Ryzen 7 5800X3D before installing it. The board should be compatible, but a BIOS update may be required.
