I'm putting together a budget gaming PC and want to keep the remaining cost under €500. I already have an ASRock B550M-HDV motherboard, an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 processor, and two DDR4 memory sticks. I also have an older 500W 80+ Gold power supply, although I'm not completely certain of its exact model or condition. I still need a graphics card, storage, and a case. The system should run Counter-Strike, Fortnite, and similar shooter games smoothly without stuttering; extremely high frame rates aren't necessary. I live in Finland, so local prices and availability matter. One concern is that the motherboard may require a BIOS update before it will work with the Ryzen 5 5500, but it doesn't appear to have a BIOS Flashback button. What would be the best way to finish the build and make the CPU and motherboard compatible?

With the motherboard, CPU, and RAM already covered, I’d prioritize a 1TB NVMe SSD, then put most of the budget toward the graphics card and use whatever remains for a basic case. A SATA SSD can save a little money, but NVMe drives are usually affordable enough now. A used graphics card could offer much better value than buying new, especially if current prices are high. I’d keep the power supply only if it’s a reputable 500W 80+ Gold model in good condition and has the connectors the graphics card needs.
The Ryzen 5 5500 may need a newer BIOS on the B550M-HDV. Since that board lacks BIOS Flashback, you can’t update it with only the 5500 if the installed BIOS is too old. The usual solutions are asking the retailer or a local computer shop to update it, borrowing a compatible older AM4 processor temporarily, or exchanging the board for one that ships with Ryzen 5000 support. Check the BIOS support list and the version printed on the motherboard before buying anything else.
The parts I already own are outside the €500 budget, so the full amount can go toward the GPU, storage, case, and any BIOS-update service if needed.
The Intel Arc B580 could be an option if you find one at a good Finnish price, but check its power requirements against that 500W unit first. Depending on local deals, a used Radeon RX 6600, RX 6650 XT, or similar card may be a better budget choice for Fortnite and Counter-Strike. Make sure the case has decent airflow and enough room for the card.
Buying the SSD and power supply new is the safer option, but a carefully tested second-hand GPU can make the €500 limit much easier to meet.
