Our business has more than 30 Lenovo ThinkPads that we no longer need. They're all from the past five years and should be compatible with Windows 11, though the models are a mix of E- and L-series systems. If getting the absolute highest price matters more than convenience, separate the newer, higher-spec ThinkPads from the older or incomplete units. Sell the good systems through a business surplus auction or established marketplace, then bundle the rest for parts. Selling individually takes more work, but it will usually bring in more than one bulk sale.
Look for a local electronics reseller, IT asset disposition company, or business equipment broker. They can usually evaluate the whole lot, handle pickup, and give you one payment instead of requiring you to list every laptop individually. Search for certified ITAD or electronics liquidation services in the Austin area and compare a few bids.
A nonprofit or local refurbishing organization may be worth contacting, especially if the machines are still usable. You may not get as much money as from a commercial buyer, but they may accept the entire lot and put the laptops back into service. Make sure the donation or sale is approved by accounting and that the devices are wiped first.
Before selling anything, make sure every storage drive is securely erased. If your company needs documentation for compliance or insurance, ask the buyer whether they provide certificates of data destruction. Depending on the drives and your policies, physically removing or destroying them may also be appropriate.
That’s a good option if the priority changes from maximizing cash to getting them out of inventory responsibly. It’s worth checking whether the organization can take all 30-plus units rather than only a few.
