I have an HP ProDesk 400 G5 with an i5-8500 and a 180W proprietary power supply that cannot easily be upgraded. I'm considering adding an RTX 3050 Low Profile. The LP model appears to be limited to about 75W, and some tests suggest the complete system may peak around 165W, so it seems technically possible but very close to the PSU's limit. Could power spikes cause shutdowns, and has anyone run a similar setup reliably?

A larger 400W replacement would provide more headroom, but the ProDesk 400 G5 uses a proprietary power supply, so standard replacements may not fit or connect correctly. Since compatible upgrades are limited, the 180W unit is likely the practical option if the 3050 LP is the exact 75W version.
