I already have a Mac Pro, but I'm interested in building a separate Windows PC. I'd like to keep the build affordable while still getting decent performance, with parts that leave room for upgrades later. What components would you recommend, and what budget should I plan for?

Absolutely. Owning a Mac Pro doesn’t affect your ability to buy or build a PC—the two systems are completely separate. The main thing we need to know is your budget and what you’ll use the new computer for, such as gaming, schoolwork, editing, or general use.

Give people a target budget and they can suggest a complete parts list. If you’re unsure, aim for a balanced entry-level build with a modern CPU, 16GB of RAM, an SSD, and a graphics card suited to the games or programs you plan to use. Choosing a current motherboard platform and a decent power supply will make future upgrades easier.

I don’t have an exact budget yet. I mainly want something decent now that I can improve over time.

Yes, you can definitely build one. Think of it like owning one car and buying another—there’s no compatibility or ownership issue. Before choosing parts, decide what performance you need and set a maximum budget so the recommendations can be tailored properly.
