Can I get an affordable Mini-ITX motherboard with AM5 and DDR5 SO-DIMM support?

I'm building a project in a 3D-printed ASA-CF case and need a motherboard that fits a Mini-ITX-style build. My requirements are an AM5 CPU socket, DDR5 SO-DIMM support, and a PCIe slot that can support an RTX 5050. My total motherboard budget is around $800–$900. I initially listed two AM5 sockets, but that was a formatting mistake—I only need one. Would an existing board work, or would a custom design be realistic?

A fully custom motherboard is far outside that budget. Development commonly costs tens of thousands of dollars at minimum, and a genuinely new design can reach around $100,000 or more. It would be much more practical to find an existing industrial or embedded board and adapt the case around it.

If you meant “number two is AM5” rather than two AM5 sockets, your requirements make more sense. Look for an AM5 Mini-ITX or thin Mini-ITX board with SO-DIMM slots. A PCIe x16 slot—or an open-ended slot with enough lanes—should be suitable for an RTX 5050, assuming the case and power delivery can accommodate the card.

You can also use SO-DIMM-to-DIMM adapters if you find a better AM5 board that only has regular desktop memory slots. They may work, but the adapter quality and physical clearance matter, so I’d treat this as a fallback rather than the first choice.

VRAM and system RAM are separate. For example, a graphics card with 16 GB of VRAM plus 16 GB of SO-DIMM system memory does not become 32 GB of normal system RAM. The computer has 16 GB of system memory, while the GPU has its own separate 16 GB memory pool.
