My PC currently has one 16GB XPG Spectrix DDR4-3600 CL18 stick installed. I found a Kingston Fury 16GB DDR4-3600 CL16 stick at a good price and was wondering whether I can add it for 32GB of dual-channel memory. I've heard dual-channel can make a noticeable difference with AMD processors. Will the different brands and timings cause problems, and what should I expect?

A matched 2x16GB kit is the safest choice for compatibility, but mixing one XPG stick with one Kingston stick is not automatically a problem. The main risks are that they may not reach 3600 MT/s together or could be unstable with an overclocked memory profile. If you try it, run a memory test and lower the speed slightly if you get crashes or errors.
It will probably work, especially since both modules are DDR4-3600 with the same capacity. However, the system will generally use settings compatible with the weaker stick, so the CL16 rating on the Kingston module may not provide any benefit. You may need to set the speed and timings manually or let the motherboard choose safe defaults.
Adding a second stick should enable dual-channel as long as the modules are installed in the motherboard’s recommended paired slots. The benefits can be noticeable depending on the workload, and dual-channel capacity is usually more valuable than the difference between CL18 and CL16. If the combination refuses to run reliably, return it or use a matched kit instead.
Even modules with the same advertised model can sometimes use different memory chips, so a matched two-stick kit is the most reliable option—but mixing these is still worth trying if the price is good.
