Can I unlock a Samsung Galaxy S21 after forgetting the PIN without erasing its data?

My child changed the screen-lock PIN on our Samsung Galaxy S21 and no one remembers the new code. The phone has parental-control software installed, but it does not offer a remote unlock feature. There is no backup, and I want to preserve the photos, videos, and other files on the device. I can access the Samsung and Google accounts linked to the phone. Is there any legitimate recovery option using a Windows PC, USB cable, ADB, Samsung software, or an account-based tool that can restore access without a factory reset or deleting the data?

Unfortunately, there generally isn’t a legitimate way to remove or bypass a modern Galaxy S21 PIN without wiping the phone. The internal storage is encrypted, and tools such as ADB or third-party PC utilities normally cannot access the data while the device is locked. Be cautious of software claiming it can bypass the PIN without data loss.

Repeated wrong attempts won’t normally reveal a Google-password unlock option on a current Galaxy S21. They usually just trigger a short waiting period, and more attempts may increase the delay. Removing the phone from a Google or Samsung account also won’t decrypt or unlock the existing data.

Before considering a reset, check whether photos and videos were already syncing to Google Photos, Samsung Cloud, OneDrive, or another backup service. If the previous-lock recovery option is unavailable, an authorized Samsung service center is the safest next step, although they may still confirm that a factory reset is required.

If the PIN was changed very recently, check the lock screen for an option to use the previous screen-lock method. Some newer Samsung software versions provide a short recovery window after a PIN change. If that option isn’t shown, the phone will most likely need to be reset.
