I have a 1000W be quiet! power supply and am considering a Radeon RX 9070 XT. Some models use two 8-pin PCIe connectors, while others use three. My PSU appears to have two PCIe cables, each with a daisy-chained connector, and I have heard that a separate cable should be used for each GPU power socket. Is it safe to run a three-connector 9070 XT from this PSU, or should I choose a two-connector model or one using the newer high-power connector?

A quality 1000W be quiet! unit has plenty of total capacity for a 9070 XT. Its PCIe cables and PSU-side connections are designed to support the included connectors, so using two cables with one daisy-chained plug should generally be fine. Still, check the exact PSU model and its manual before installing the card.
The safest approach is to look up the exact GPU model's installation guide and the exact PSU manual. If the card specifically requires three independent PCIe cables and your PSU only provides two, choose a two-connector model or use a PSU-approved newer high-power cable if your unit supports it. The 1000W rating itself is more than sufficient, but connector and cable compatibility still matters.
You do not need to avoid every card with three sockets. If the PSU's manual confirms that both PCIe cables can be used with their additional connectors, connect two plugs from one cable and the third from the other. Do not use adapters or mix modular cables from another power supply, and make sure every connector is fully seated.
The card's power draw depends on the model. Standard versions are usually around 304–340W, which can be supplied through two 8-pin connectors plus the motherboard slot.
