Cat-triggered keyboard shortcuts are causing random inputs—how do I reset it?

I've used a Razer Huntsman Tournament Edition for about four years without any problems. Last night, my cat rested on several keys near the bottom-left corner, including Space, Alt, Fn, Ctrl, and the key between Fn and Ctrl. The backlight stopped working, and afterward the keyboard began producing delayed, incorrect, or completely unexpected inputs. For example, Backspace acted like the Windows key, Space produced symbols, and regular letters sometimes did nothing. The issue temporarily disappeared after I repeatedly pressed several keys, but I'd like a proper fix instead of relying on that. What should I check or reset?

That combination may have accidentally activated the keyboard’s macro-recording or onboard-profile functions. Open Razer Synapse and check the keyboard’s assigned macros, profiles, and onboard memory. Remove any unexpected macro or restore the onboard profile to its default settings. A random recording could explain why the keyboard is outputting strange sequences instead of normal keystrokes.

That sounds very plausible. I’ll check the Synapse profile and macro settings before opening the keyboard.

The temporary improvement after pressing a bunch of keys also suggests that a modifier key or function layer got stuck or toggled. Try the factory-reset procedure for your exact Huntsman model; it commonly involves holding Fn and Escape for a few seconds while reconnecting the keyboard. Check the manual first so you use the correct combination.

Thanks—I’ll verify the exact reset steps for this model and try that if the profile settings look normal.

It’s also worth disconnecting the keyboard, inspecting the affected keys, and cleaning around the switches and keycaps. Cat hair, dust, or a key that is physically held down could cause stuck modifiers and inconsistent behavior. Use compressed air or a careful cleaning rather than continuing to hit the keys hard. If the problem remains after resetting profiles and cleaning, test the keyboard on another computer to determine whether it’s hardware-related.

I’ll clean around those keys and test it on another computer if the reset doesn’t solve it.
