I'm assembling a PC with a Gigabyte AORUS X870E motherboard and G.Skill Ripjaws S5 DDR5 memory, but the RAM won't slot into the DIMM socket. I've checked the orientation: the notch in the module lines up with the ridge in the slot, and the pinless section matches the corresponding part of the motherboard. Is there anything else I should check before applying pressure?

RAM is keyed, so the notch has to line up exactly with the ridge in the DIMM slot. Make sure the retaining clips are open, then press straight down evenly on both ends until the module clicks into place. Don’t force it if the notch isn’t perfectly aligned, since DDR5 sticks can require firm pressure but should still seat smoothly.
The notch is aligned correctly, and I confirmed the pinless section matches the slot. I’ll check the clips and try pressing evenly from both ends.
