I have an iPhone 15 Plus running iOS 26.6. When I charge it in landscape orientation, StandBy shows the time, battery percentage, and other widgets. How can I change how long the display stays on before going black? Also, can I use StandBy while the phone is charging in another position or orientation?

Go to Settings > StandBy > Display. Depending on your iOS version, you can choose Automatically, After 20 Seconds, or Never. StandBy itself requires the iPhone to be charging, locked, and positioned horizontally on its side, preferably on a stable stand.
You don’t need a special MagSafe dock—regular wired charging can work—but the phone still has to be sideways and stationary for StandBy to appear. There isn’t a setting that enables the full StandBy interface while the iPhone is upright or lying flat.
That explains it. The charging method can vary, but the sideways orientation is still required.

So plugging it in while it’s lying flat or held vertically won’t activate StandBy?
