Hey everyone,
I'm on a quest to create a mostly silent PC. Here's my current setup, which I built about six years ago:
- **Motherboard**: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX AM4
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6x 3.60GHz
- **RAM**: 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO DDR4-3200
- **Graphics Card**: ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 3080 10 GB
- **Case**: NZXT H510 Midi Tower
- **Power Supply**: 550 Watt be quiet! STRAIGHT POWER 11 Platinum 80+
- **Storage**: 1000GB Crucial P1 NVMe M.2
- **Cooling**: NZXT Kraken X63 (AIO)
Currently, my AIO is set up vertically at the front, with its fans pulling air and my case fans pushing it out the back and top. I mainly use this for gaming, playing titles like League of Legends and World of Warcraft, but I also dabble in more demanding games.
Here's the issue: Whenever I run anything taxing like WoW or Elden Ring, the noise level skyrockets and the CPU temperatures can exceed 80°C. There was even a point last summer when it hit over 90°C and shut down. I've tried adjusting fan curves and cleaning the components, but no luck.
I'm considering either upgrading parts to reduce noise or building a new, quieter system. If I go for a new build, my budget is around $3.5K to $4K, and I'd hope for a solid performance boost, especially for occasional 4K gaming. Any advice on which path might be better?

Your cooler should handle the Ryzen 3600 without being too noisy. Have you thought about remounting the cooler and applying fresh thermal paste? It might help with heat transfer and overall cooling.

I haven't tried that yet, but I usually notice that the liquid temp goes up when the CPU gets hot. I figured there might be an issue with the heat transfer from the CPU to the fluid.
