I'm an eighth-grade student trying to copy a document into a new tab or document without losing the comments attached to it. When I use normal copy and paste, only the main text transfers, which is frustrating. Is there a way to keep the comments in the copied version while leaving the original document unchanged?

Comments are usually stored separately from the document’s main text, so regular copy and paste often leaves them behind. If you’re using Google Docs, go to File > Make a copy, then select the option to copy comments and suggestions. That creates a new document with the comments included while keeping the original intact. In Microsoft Word, use File > Save As and give the duplicate a different name; the comments should remain in the new file.
If you only copy part of the document, comments may not transfer reliably. In Word, selecting the text and pasting with Keep Source Formatting can sometimes bring the comments along, but creating a full copy of the document is the safer option. The exact steps depend on whether you’re using Google Docs, Word, or another program.

I want the comments to stay in the original while also appearing in a new tab or copied version. Would making a copy do that?
