I have an MSI Pulse GL66 11UGKV laptop that I bought secondhand. While trying to install the NVIDIA app, I followed some advice to remove GeForce Experience, then went further and uninstalled nearly everything with NVIDIA in its name. Now NVIDIA Control Panel says that the NVIDIA display settings are unavailable because no NVIDIA graphics card was detected, and the NVIDIA app shows error 0xE6000000. I also tried installing an older driver and using NVCleanstall, but neither worked. How can I restore the correct graphics driver and get the GPU working again?

There are two separate possibilities here: the driver may simply be missing, or Windows may not be detecting the GPU at all. Before reinstalling, open Device Manager and check Display adapters and Other devices. If the NVIDIA GPU appears with a warning icon, remove that device and select the option to delete its driver software, then install the driver from MSI’s support page or NVIDIA’s official page. If only the integrated Intel graphics appears, check that the laptop is in its normal performance mode and that the NVIDIA GPU is enabled in firmware or the manufacturer’s control software.
A thorough reinstall can help if old driver files are causing trouble. Download the latest Display Driver Uninstaller from a reputable source, disconnect from the internet temporarily so Windows Update doesn’t install its own driver, boot into Safe Mode, and remove the NVIDIA display driver. Restart, run the official NVIDIA driver installer, and reconnect to the internet afterward. The NVIDIA app can be installed once the graphics driver is working.
You probably haven’t permanently damaged anything. Download the driver for the exact GPU in your laptop from NVIDIA’s official driver page, then run the installer and choose the clean installation option. For the GL66 11UGKV, make sure you select the notebook version and the correct GeForce GPU rather than a desktop model.

Running DDU twice usually isn’t necessary, but repeating it in Safe Mode and then installing the correct driver afterward should be fine if the first attempt didn’t resolve the issue.
