I'm upgrading the main components of my gaming PC and want to play CPU-intensive games at 1440p and around 144 Hz. The case and storage are staying, while the CPU, graphics card, motherboard, RAM, and power supply are being replaced. Does this combination look balanced, and are there any parts I should reconsider?

The 7800X3D is extremely powerful for gaming and may be more CPU performance than you need, especially if you’re targeting 1440p at 144 Hz. It can push very high frame rates in lighter esports titles, so putting some of the budget toward a better monitor could make the upgrade more noticeable.
A Ryzen 7 7800X3D paired with a Radeon RX 9070 XT should handle 1440p gaming well above 144 FPS in many games. Since the 7800X3D can run warm, I’d use a stronger air cooler, such as a Thermalright Phantom Spirit or Peerless Assassin, rather than a weaker budget cooler.
Thanks! I’m keeping the case and storage, but the RAM, CPU, GPU, power supply, and motherboard are all being upgraded. I’ll look into those cooler options.

That’s a good point. I was leaning toward the 7800X3D because I play The Finals, which can be demanding on the CPU and uses multiple threads. I’ll compare some higher-refresh or higher-resolution monitor options.
